About us
Founded in 2024, the Grass-roots Rugby for Everyone Award Trust (GREAT) is a charitable organisation which supports the development of rugby across Scotland. Our mission is to increase the number of people and children throughout Scotland who play and support rugby at grass-roots level and to improve the facilities in clubs and schools which enable them to do so. With increased participation, we believe that we can help grow the game and improve standards across Scotland.

Our Objectives
- To promote public participation in rugby across Scotland through a programme of grants and other assistance to organisations and individuals, spreading awareness of the health and wellbeing benefits for participants of all ages, ethnicities, genders, and abilities;
- To provide and support recreational facilities and the organisation of recreational activities in communities, schools, colleges, universities, charitable organisations, and rugby clubs throughout Scotland;
- To support the provision of educational, coaching, and other forms of assistance, equipment and financial assistance to enable people of all abilities to safely participate in rugby in Scotland
Our initial focus is on clubs, state schools, and communities in Scotland where the opportunity to play rugby is limited or unavailable. We will also support clubs who have ambitious, but feasible, plans to grow their men’s and women’s teams, particularly in disadvantaged communities. We will support these groups by awarding financial support which will assist the applicants in achieving their goals.

How We Help
GREAT’s aim is to assist the rugby community in Scotland by providing financial support for activities that encourage the development and playing of rugby.
These activities can include providing coaching and education assistance, kit, equipment, transport and playing facilities.
